About Martien Jonkers
Originally trained as on Occupational Therapist I worked in the USA in the mid nineties where I met Osteopathy through Dr John Upledger. I trained with him and his faculty for two years. I went on to train at the European School of Osteopathy(ESO) in the UK graduating in 2000. My work experience includes the Osteopathic Centre for Children in London and the Osteopathic Children's Foundation in Hamilton NZ; as well as working in clinics in the North of England and Wales and my own clinic at the Active Birth Centre in London. Since returning to NZ in 2006 I have worked at Stillpoint, taught at Unitec school of Osteopathy and had my own clinic (Koru Clinic, Titirangi) which is where I exclusively work now. I have also explored and had training in Conscious Birth Preparation and Awareness Mentoring.

My Approach
Over the last 25 years I have focussed my post graduate training in the field of cranial osteopathy. Starting with the Sutherland Cranial College and SCTF in UK and NZ/AU and the last 20+ years have been more specialised in the work of Dr James Jealous who developed the Biodynamic approach to Osteopathy in the Cranial Field. I have been fortunate enough to have learned from him as well as 8 of his faculty members in the UK, NZ, Europe and America.
I love the osteopathic profession which has allowed me to go on a journey of ongoing learning and development in myself as well as my professional skills. I am grateful to so many amazing teachers and the wonderful ESO in Boxley which I will always carry in my heart.
In 2023 I began teaching courses here in NewZealand. I am excited to develop this further as well as collaborate with other teachers. With the priviledged profession we are so fortunate to have, we can grow and Evolve; thus supporting our patients to do the same in their journey of healing and wholeness.
